This comes after the company’s successful launch in 8 other states.
In New York, PointsBet, a global online gaming operator, has launched its mobile app and digital sports betting offering.
PointsBet was recommended for a platform provider licence to handle mobile sports wagering in New York by the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) in November 2021.
The state of New York approved mobile sports betting in April 2021, and it went online in January 2022.
The Empire State joins New Jersey, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Colorado, Michigan, West Virginia, and Virginia as the app’s ninth state of operation.
The launch, according to PointsBet USA CEO Johnny Aitken, is a significant step forward for the organisation.
“Being one of nine permitted online sports betting companies in the state, PointsBet’s launch in New York is a big milestone,” added Aitken. “New York’s die-hard sports fans and bettors will now have access to the industry’s quickest online sports betting product, with a live, in-game betting experience that PointsBet controls thanks to our patented technology and unequalled workforce.”
The mobile app launch, according to Sam Swanell, CEO and Managing Director of PointsBet Group, was a watershed moment for New York, and he is optimistic that the state will help to expand the sports betting market.”Today is a historic day for PointsBet as we formally debut in New York, which is positioned to become one of the largest markets in the United States. “The PointsBet team is eager to uphold our reputation and demonstrate our consistent ability to provide a world-class service to New York sports bettors,” Swanell stated.
