The Arizona Coyotes and Meruelo Gaming will open a sportsbook in the state of Arizona

The Arizona Coyotes (NHL) have partnered up with Meruelo Gaming, an affiliate of the Sahara Las Vegas and Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, to launch SaharaBets in Arizona.

Starting on January 12th, the new digital sports betting platform will be accessible for download, just in time for some major sporting events.

Alex Meruelo, who bought a majority stake in the Coyotes in 2019, owns the Sahara Las Vegas and Grand Sierra Resorts.

Andrew Patterson, President of SaharaBets, stated: “SaharaBets brings the thrill and renown of the legendary Sahara Las Vegas to Arizona sports fans. SaharaBets looks forward to engaging with the Coyotes organisation to engage and interact with sports fans in a fun and innovative way as the Valley’s sports betting scene continues to expand.”

Xavier A. Gutierrez, President and CEO of the Arizona Coyotes, added: “The Coyotes are committed to providing our devoted fans with unique and enjoyable experiences. Fans who wish to release their competitive spirit will be able to do so thanks to our cooperation with SaharaBets.”

Several major professional sports clubs have established sports betting partnerships since sports betting was legalised in Arizona.

The PGA Tour and DraftKings have agreed to create a sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale, while FanDuel has said it will open a retail sportsbook in the former Phoenix Suns Arena (which was rebranded as Footprint Center).

The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to partner with Caesars Entertainment to open a sportsbook near Chase Field.

The Arizona Cardinals and BetMGM also announced a 15-year partnership to open a sportsbook at State Farm Stadium, and Bally’s and the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury established a 15-year alliance.
